Traditionally,
portable infrared cameras have laser
pointers that are not aligned with any
measurement spot on their display. Parallax
error resulting from the laser and infrared
camera having distinct lens systems prevents
the spot from being properly aligned
at any distance. As a result, the spot
projected onto objects in the field and
visible to the camera operator and other
onlookers is not normally associated
with a temperature reading on the portable
infrared camera's display.
